Jeff Skoll : Making movies that make change

I personally think video to be the most effective way to communicate to the masses (especially over books)
Why ?
There are a lot of reasons, but one that matters is : It takes less time for the audience to get the point you are trying to make, and chances are, they would remember parts of it as humans remember pictures more than words!
(on the flip side you end up spending a lot of time making your point, ie. making movies, but i guess that’s ok)

Proof ?
Ask yourself!

Here is how Jeff Skoll is using this powerful mode of communication.

ACT ON IT !

Still have an excuse…

I have had most of the exercise excuses that you can think of but when I see things like these, it makes me think again about not getting up tomorrow morning to work out!

Shake It Off And Step Up

Nice Motivational story. Long but worth a read!

A parable is told of a farmer who owned an old mule. The mule fell into the farmer’s well. The farmer heard the mule ‘braying’ (or whatever mules do when they fall into wells). After carefullyassessing the situation, the farmer sympathized with the mule, but decided that neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving. Instead, he called his neighbors together and told them what had happened and enlisted them to help haul dirt to bury the old mule in the well and put him out of his misery.

Initially, the old mule was hysterical! But as the farmer and his neighbors continued shoveling and the dirt hit his back, a thought struck him. It suddenly dawned on him that every time a shovel load of dirt landed on his back, HE SHOULD SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP! This he did, blow after blow.

“Shake it off and step up…shake it off and step up…shake it off and step up!” he repeated to encourage himself. No matter how painful the blows, or distressing the situation seemed the old mule fought “panic” and just kept right on SHAKING IT OFF AND STEPPING UP!

You’re right! It wasn’t long before the old mule, battered and exhausted, STEPPED TRIUMPHANTLY OVER THE WALL OF THAT WELL! What seemed like it would bury him, actually blessed him- all because of the manner in which he handled his adversity.

THAT’S LIFE! If we face our problems and respond to them positively, and refuse to give in to panic, bitterness, or self-pity… THE ADVERSITIES THAT COME ALONG TO BURY US USUALLY HAVE WITHIN THEM THE POTENTIAL TO BENEFIT AND BLESS US! Remember that FORGIVENESS - FAITH - PRAYER - PRAISE and HOPE all are excellent ways to “SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP” out of the wells in which we find ourselves!

Motivation to lose weight

I have been overweight since 5th / 6th standard (I don’t even remember)…

Being overweight / chubby was fine with me, even with a few extra kilos I had managed to be Delhi state karate gold medalist for 2 years (my 9th and 10th standard in school). I don’t know why & when, but at some point I stopped caring about being fat. This is when I moved from being chubby to obese :)

My Motivation is the memory of those golden days.

I have tried shortcuts many a times (i.e. Crash Diets) and the wrong ways (read my first serious go), none of them work!

I want to get back in shape, the right way. I have been watching my daily food intake and activities on lifemojo and I am waiting for lifemojo to release a blog export feature so that I can share my weight loss initiative with you guys here on my blog…
