Running – Day 7

Yesterday’s 1 Mile gave me the confidence to stretch myself today. I was planning to run continuously instead of following the plan, but Varun tried to run 2 Kms today morning and around lunch his legs were hurting, so I decided not to experiment and follow the plan :)

After 5 reps of 2-2, I felt as if I could do more, so continued running. Ended up doing 7 reps today. I am glad that now I can have a conversation while running. I feel this is a good progress considering the fact that I was breathless after 1 minute of my Day 1 :)

Running – Day 6

I completed my first mile today :) ( Just 25 consecutive miles to go ;) )

We (me, Varun Gupta, Himanshu Khurana, Varun Khurana) ran with Dharmendra today in lalbag. Lalbag is a great place and on top of that, it was drizzling :) So it was a great experience! When Dharmendra told me yesterday that we would try and cover one round of the lake in lalbag today, I thought I wouldn’t be able to complete that, but would try to run as long as I can :) But he was right, it depends a lot on who you run with… Got to know a lot more about the right stretching exercises after the run, which is very nice especially for a beginner like me. I wish there were videos available on LifeMojo for the correct way to stretch before and after the running.

Dharmendra had to head back for breakfast, so we took a walk around the lake and then decided to head to MTR for breakfast. If you haven’t been to MTR yet, I would recomend going there at least once in your life! I and Varun (Gupta) have been there once (with Ganapathy) during the MyDuniya days for lunch, so we knew the food there would be awesome, it was the first time for Himanshu and Varun (himanshu’s brother) and they loved it as well.

I would most likely skip the 2-2 X 5 running schedule today ( or if we are back in time from the movie, and still have enough enthu, I might go for it ;) )

Running – Day 5

It was way better than last 4 days!

I was wrong about 1-1 being the next stage of the program (somehow I misremembered), it was 2-2 X 5 (i.e. 2 mins run + 2 min brisk walk, 5 times). So I ran for 10 mins (vs 7 mins per day for the past 4 days). It was a good feeling, seeing myself improve :)

Himanshu ran with me today, so it wasn’t that boring as it was yesterday. I would run with Dharmendra tomorrow morning at lalbag, lets see how much can I run at a stretch.

Running – Day 4

I tried to switch from nights to mornings today. It was damn cold and raining, so I decided to run at night and went back to sleep ;)

At night, I switched from 1-2 Min to 1-1 Min plan (i.e. 1 Min running and 1 Min brisk walking, 7 times in a go) which is the next stage of the program that I am following. It was a bit harder than yesterday, but went on fine!

It is really boring to run without music, so I would have to either quickly move on to running continiously for a longer stretch; or would have to embed the timmer in my music and then add that to my ipod shuffle, which I don’t want to do as it restricts me to decide the music for the entire duration of my workout in advance.

Still searching for a decent solution to this !

Running – Day 3

It was drizzling today. I don’t know if I am playing with fire here, but today I ran in rain.

It was fun! Clearly better than yesterday and the day before. Either the 1-2 Min plan is really working or the drizzle made it fun :)

I am glad that I am loving my runs, It would be great if I could listen to music while running, but unfortunately I have not yet seen a MP3 player that would let me program workout related instructions over music that I have…

May be its time to build one…
