Running – Day 3

It was drizzling today. I don’t know if I am playing with fire here, but today I ran in rain.

It was fun! Clearly better than yesterday and the day before. Either the 1-2 Min plan is really working or the drizzle made it fun :)

I am glad that I am loving my runs, It would be great if I could listen to music while running, but unfortunately I have not yet seen a MP3 player that would let me program workout related instructions over music that I have…

May be its time to build one…

Running – Day 2

It is damn cold today (especially for Bangalore)

This would have been my excuse, had I not been tracking what I do to lose weight… (No, I am not promoting LifeMojo by saying this, it is a fact. Just start tracking what you do in a diary for a day or two, and you would know what I am talking about)
It was fun running today, I had to put-on a sweatshirt because of the wind and the cold, but it was awesome running in this cold. Didn’t feel breathless too early today, and the 1-2 min method seems to be working…

In a nutshell: Day 2 went smooth…

Stretching Exercises before and after Running

Being a beginner at running it is obvious for me to search for stuff around it on Google. I thought I would share the gyan that I find, here on my blog so that you guys can point me in the right direction.

Here is an informative video on about.com on streching exercises before and after running.

Running – Day 1

Varun and Himanshu ditched me on the very first day, still I managed to get out and start!

It is always windy (Yes, I mean it, Windy) here in L&T South City (where I live) especially at nights so I was a bit worried about the Garam Sard that I get effected by, still thought I would give it a shot. It’s good that I have a watch which I can program to set Loops for timer. I managed to set the loops right and started running. Good that I did all the stretching exercises before and after, I didn’t feel the pain that I usually feel after running. I had tried running as a way to lose weight before, but I couldn’t go past 1 week because of the pain in the legs.

So today I lost (just) 232 Calories :( (In case you are wondering how do I know this, checkout the calories burnt section at LifeMojo)

None the less, Good Start, let’s see how soon can I run the Marathon!

Running – Never thought there is so much to it !

I was a bit confused between Swimming and Running. I love swimming but I can’t find Swimming Pool everywhere I Travel, so finally decided to give both a shot!

Learned a few techniques to improve my swimming strokes from Ajay (a friend who stays in the same apartment complex as I do) this Sunday, and bought a book “The Runner’s Handbook” for running, I had never realized that there was so much to running. Anyways, I read a few pages and I couldn’t stop.

I took the fitness tests mentioned in the book and realized how (un)fit I am. There is a lot of gyan in this book on what, how and how much to do to be able to develop a Running Habit. I won’t spoil it for you and let you explore the book on your own.

Anyways, the good news is that I have started running as per the plan for beginners in the book.

Here is how it looks for me in the first week:

  1. Streching Exercises for Calves, Hamstring, Quadriceps, Groin, Lower Back
  2. Warm Up : 5 Mins, brisk walk
  3. [ 1 Min Running followed by 2 Min Walking ] X 7 Times
  4. Cool Down : 5 Min, slow walk
  5. Streching Exercises for Calves, Hamstring, Quadriceps, Groin, Lower Back

I have planned it on LieMojo, and WOULD continue following the plan and hope to run a Marathon soon…
